About Allyson

My Background

I received a Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy from Chapman University in 2019 and am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in California. I’m additionally a Nationally Board Certified Health & Wellness Coach.

I have a background of experience managing mental health crises and of work building resiliency and effective coping strategies. One of my first passions is working with caregivers and those struggling with grief and loss. I’ve worked extensively with teens, college students and adults coping with life changes and managing mental health symptoms. I frequently work with clients facing depression, anxiety, or self-image concerns.

My Approach

I help people solve problems they identify and prioritize. I use Solution-Focused therapy to make problems manageable and incorporate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy or Dialectical Behavioral Therapy techniques for symptom relief. Making connections about where your history and the choices you're currently making intersect can be incredibly rewarding. We have the power to make some life changes and to connect about what's out of our control.

How A Session Will Feel

My goal is to create a kind and non-judgmental space where you can share things out loud that you may have only thought about. I'm here to listen to you and support you. I’ll ask questions to make sure I grasp the depth of what you're sharing. You can always expect empathy, responsiveness and for me to be calm and present.

Testimonials

“Ally is one of the most empathetic people I know. I had the greatest pleasure of working alongside Ally and we continue to support one another on our clinical paths. Ally is a deeply compassionate therapist who blends expert clinical knowledge with genuine empathy. I refer to Ally with complete confidence.

— Monique Jensen, LMFT

“Ally was instrumental in helping my daughter who saw her from a very young age. Ally was patient and kind. She helped my daughter come forward with something terrible that had happened to her. Without Ally’s help, I don’t know if I would know what had happened to this day. She is incredible at building a rapport and safe environment for children so that you can figure out what might be the issue, ways to help, and make it something fun to look forward to. She is understanding and gentle with parents too - she’s there to help the family and not cast judgement. 10/10 therapist!”

— Parent of former client
